For Even More
Hooking Flexibility
Over
the years since I designed and commenced manufacturing and selling the
ultra-portable lap frame, I’ve had customers ask if it could not be used on
a stand of some sort also – like the floor frame.
I never seriously considered
this idea, but a few years ago a lap frame owner of long standing from West Virginia got
my attention when she stated how much help it would be to her, with her style of
hooking, if she could mount the lap frame on a stand
- and if the frame could
then easily swivel around 360 degrees. (She said she
just gets all “wopperjawed” trying to hook
when she can’t turn her frame easily.
What a great expression!!) This
sounded intriguing, so I put some serious thought to it (that’s the most fun
anyway- figuring out and designing something new) and have come up with the
stand you see pictured below:
Specifics on the Lap Frame Stand
As you can see, the lap frame simply mounts and swivels 360
degrees to
any position you desire where it can be locked down and held by tightening the
center ball knob. For those of you
who already own a lap frame, all that’s required is to drill a ¼ inch hole in
the middle of the base plate. That’s all. On all new purchases since March of
2000, the hole is already drilled.
As before, you
retain the flexibility of tilting the hooking area to whatever angle you desire.
The legs are adjustable in height to position your hooking area from 27 to 35
inches above the floor – the same as the floor stand.
The brace across the bottom and the 21 inch long feet make the stand very
solid and stable. The stand and the
lap frame combined weigh approximately 7 pounds.
